LAHORE (via The Nation) - Police on Monday claimed to have solved a blind murder mystery by arresting a hired assassin, who had shot dead a man on the behest of his in-laws in the Shalimar police precincts a few weeks ago.
Qamar Sajjad alias Mitho confessed to investigators that he had killed Muhammad Yasim for Rs150,000 paid by his in-laws, a police spokesperson said on Monday.
According to the alleged killer, the deceased’s wife along with her mother and father had planned the killing of Sajjad as they wanted to occupy his property worth million of rupees. According to investigators, the accused had a violent history.
After the orders of Lahore CCPO Muhammad Amin Wains, the police officers of both the investigation and operation wings are tracking down the criminals involved in heinous crimes. SSP Rana Ayaz Saleem constituted special police teams to hunt down the elements involved in blind murders and armed robberies.
A team of Shalimar investigations police was given the task to unearth the killers involved in the gun-attack on Yasim. The police collected data of mobile phone calls of the deceased, his wife, and other characters attached to the case.
The investigators ultimately raided at a hideout and arrested Sajjad who confessed to the police that he had murdered the man after accepting Rs 1500,000 from his in-laws.
The police are also conducting raids to arrest Yasim’s wife and her father. Further investigation is underway.
SSP Rana Ayaz Saleem has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police team for solving the blind murder mystery within a few weeks.
