ISLAMABAD: Youth of northern areas will be trained through skills development courses to make them employed said Executive Director NAVTTC Zulifiqar Ahmad Cheema during a visit to the technical training institutes of Gilgit-Baltistan. 

He said a total of seven hundred male and female students of the GB were participating in the training courses of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission and hopes that more students will take part in the future. He directed the youth of Gilgit, Hunza for taking more interest in the skills development courses.

“In the future,” he said, “the GB youth would be given more training in the field of boating and tourism to prepare hundreds of tour guides and hotel workers.” “Training would also be given to maximum students in the sector of gem & jewellery and fruit processing.”

During his visit, he also met with the instructors and students of Kara Karam Holy Technique Institute, Gems and Jewelry Institute, Hashu Foundation Gilgit, Professional Developement Centre Hunza, Codio Centre, Sharmari Habilitations Centre, Agha Khan Higher Secondary School for Girls Hunza, Siqam Wood Works Centre Hunza.

Cheema also met with the Chief Secretary GB Tahir Hussain and Commander of Northern Area Force Major General Asim Munir and stressed the need for establishment of the best technical institutions in the northern areas. He said that the government would give interest free loans to the youth who will complete their courses so that they can start their business.
