ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that all is not well in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where there is a need for change of team. He said he would accept the verdict of the Supreme Court in PanamaLeaks case with open heart and would not take to the streets if the court did not give the decision in his favour.
Talking to Supreme Court reporters here at his residence, he said that whatever the decision of the court, he will accept it even if it is against him. He said he will launch a struggle against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for what he termed its role in rigging. “I never went to school so punctually as I visited the country’s top court and I found judges of the apex court so dignified and aware of the matter”, Imran said.
The PTI chief was flanked by Naeemul Haq, Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry, spokesperson and Ifitikhar Durrani, and others. Imran Khan said that the party would launch a campaign against the Election Commission of Pakistan as he called it the “Commission of Election Rigging”, which had given 40 findings and recommendations, none of which has been implemented yet. To a question, however, he said that they will not enter into any coalition with other parties saying the performance of the PTI is quite clear to the masses.
The PTI chief claimed 100 percent victory again in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa in the general elections keeping in view its performance most specifically in depoliticising the police department as well as bringing drastic reforms in the education sector of the province.
He said that they are accepting the military courts as the government has failed to implement the National Action Plan. “We don't like to create an impression that the PTI is making hurdles in restoring peace and eradicating menace of terrorism from the country,” he said. “We have to take this bitter pill otherwise no democrat can accept the military courts,” Imran said.
He said if the court constitutes a commission, then he will not only record his statement but would also be cross-examined. “I can go everywhere but will not leave Nawaz Sharif and will continue the fight throughout my life against corruption,” he said. He said that he did not want to target Nawaz Sharif politically but preferred to knock at the doors of the country’s top court to expose his corruption adding that the court accepted his petition as it was an issue of public importance wherein an “elected Prime Minister told a lie on the floor of the Parliament” as well as before the nation.
Similarly he said that while approaching the court, the role of certain institutions was also exposed before the court as well as the general public. “It is imperative for democracy that no one should tell a lie and one should be Sadiq and Amin”, Imran said adding that the president of Brazil had to face impeachment as he told a lie regarding budget.
“Whatever we had, we provide the court in accordance with the constitution and the burden of proof was on the Sharif family”, Imran said He alleged that Nawaz Sharif has established his business empire while remaining in politics. Imran said being in power in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, he could have also taken huge loans from Bank of Khyber while using his authority and build his business empire but he did not.
