Waves launched their latest “Waqaye Bara Fridge” 

Waves Pakistan recently had their go at this ‘reverse’ trend and let’s just say that it definitely made international Waves. Confused? Don’t be because we’re going to get down to the bottom of this. So, Waves launched their latest refrigerator which is the biggest refrigerator of Pakistan. 
The product was launched with the tagline “waqaye bara fridge” which validates their claims to be the biggest fridge. Like almost every brand, a TVC consequently followed which had an interesting spin at “reversing” things. The TVC is made in reverse where we see the main characters hosting a party, guests are coming in, cheers all around, people are enjoying. There’s a cake cutting ceremony and children are running around backwards. Things are also shattering to give a little bit of a chaotic element which is only natural when you’re hosting a big gathering. Just before the voice over starts, we see the hosts of the party (the main characters) worried and unable to take care of the party. There is then a voice over which talks about how if life had a reverse button then you’d see that no matter how big a party is and no matter how it ends, it all starts from Waves as their new refrigerator is enormously spacious.

The TVC ends with the main character saying “I think the guests are here” signaling to the reverse idea. 

Following the ad, a hashtag went viral by the name #WavesRevChallenge. People from all over Pakistan posted their reverse challenge videos on their social media. 


Reverse Challenge was to engage the audience with the brand in a way that people of all ages can participate and have their own take on it. This challenge was not only fun but it gave people the opportunity to explore their creativity. Waves also put an extra boost of incentive in order to prompt even more people to participate which was through giving away an opportunity to one lucky winner who gets the most amount of likes, comments and shares on his video to win a huge appliance. 

Like me you and everyone else; we all love things we can easily win. Thousands of entries came pouring in; even models/influencers from Canada joined in and prompted their peers to send in their take on the famous Waves Reverse Challenge. That’s not all, famous Pakistani comedian Faiza Saleem and Ukhano, a popular vlogger, influencer and photographer also participated in this famous challenge. Shortlisted/best videos were then reposted by the brand on their official page. 

Life in reverse

Imagine our lives would’ve been so much better if we had a reverse button. The number of moments we could relive, mistakes we could rectify and memories we could cherish again. While that may not be possible in real life, technology has somewhat made reversing things possible.

It’s as easy as making a video on snapchat. Make a video and run it backward. From celebrities to children, grandparents to influencers, and fashionistas, everyone is doing this cool new trend.

Khaadi, Pakistan’s premium retail, and lifestyle brand welcome the spring season with the launch of its new range fragrances in collaboration with acclaimed Spanish perfumer Salvador Montesinos. The new collection was launched via press meet in Karachi and will be available nationwide in all Khaadi stores, and also online at  from 10th April 2019.

Taking inspiration from Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, the new range provides a modern twist to the traditional Pakistan fragrance taste.  The range has 19 new fragrances subdivided into eau de parfum premium, eau de parfum mid-tier, and body mists. The new collection is priced between PKR 950/- and PKR 4,000/-

What began as a single store start-up in Karachi is now easily Pakistan’s most iconic fast fashion retail force. Today, Khaadi has over 40 stores, dominating high streets and malls alike, present at almost every notable location in Pakistan. Khaadi is one of the very few Pakistani fashion retail brands to successfully establish a global footprint with stores in the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Qatar.

Pakistan’s premier fashion retail brand Khaadi opened its 45th store at Com 3, Bilalwal Chowrangi 20 years to the day it first opened its doors at Zamzama.

CEO Shamoon Sultan and Khaadi’s management were present to welcome customers. “This is what Khaadi does. For twenty years we create a market for our clothes and a unique and customized retail experience to complement them. We celebrated with our employees and now, Khaadi says thank you to its customers by giving them a new store”.

The store at COM 3 is Khaadi’s 8th flagship store and covers over 18,000 square feet of retail space, offering customers unstitched, ready to wear, home and kids. The store features escalators and a stunning installation artist Sohail Abdullah; a part of Khaadi’s philosophy to showcase Pakistani artists and craft.

The company is celebrating “20 years of a vibrant you” at their Head office, Pakistani and international stores. Khaadi’s inspiration is global ethnic fusion and it takes pride that its clothes offer something for every woman. Speaking about the campaign Khaadi’s Director Corporate Communication said “Wearing Khaadi makes you feel vibrant, confident, comfortable and classy. We believe you should never stop discovering who they are and we enable you to feel you are.”

Khaadi’s first store opened on 13th December 1998 and grew from a 400 square foot space to over 550,000 square feet in two decades. The company employees 1125 employees in Pakistan and 195 employees in the UAE, UK, and Qatar.

Nippon Paint Pakistan announces winners of AYDA 2018

Nippon Paint Pakistan announced the Winners of 'Asia Young Designer Award' (AYDA 2018) on 7th December at the finale event held in Royal Palm, Lahore. Launched in 2008, the event has become one of Asia's premier design awards, serving as a platform to inspire architecture and interior design students to develop their skills and to network with key industry players and peers in the region. Acknowledging the abundance of talent in the creative industry and in an attempt to give back to the society through investing in the future of young architectural students, AYDA was launched by Nippon Paint Pakistan during the year 2016.

For the year 2018-19, 15 countries across Asia are participating in the AYDA Regional Finale 2018-19 including Philippines, Singapore, Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, China, Japan, Hong Kong (China), Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Taiwan and Pakistan.

The highlight of this year's AYDA is that the Regional Platinum Award Winner will get to attend a fully funded '6-week all-expense paid for design discovery program' at Harvard Graduate School of Design, where the winners will have the privilege to learn and experience intensive studio work, lectures, workshops and field trips. This is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the lucky winner. This program results from NIPSEA Group's establishment of the Gennosuke Obata Fellowship Fund at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design ('GSD'). The fund will provide financial aid to GSD students from Asian countries.

A world renowned Malaysian architect Ar. Sarly Adre Bin Sarkum graced us with his presence as a Guest Speaker. Ar. Sarly Adre Sarkum is an architecture futurist, sustainability proponent and design activist. Currently, he helms the hybrid architectural design firm "Sarly Adre Sarkum Architecture Sdn. Bhd". He is the Immediate Past President of the Malaysia Green Building Confederation which is Malaysia's Green Building Council under the auspices of the World Green Building Council. He is also currently an elected council member of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (The Malaysian Institute of Architects). He currently sits as one of the five directors of the GBI Green Rating Tool.

The jury for the competition included renowned architects including Ar. Raza Ali Dada, Managing Partner at Nayyer Ali Dada & Associates, Ar. Fawad Abbasi Vice President at IAP and Architect at Suhail & Fawad Architects, Ar. Rashid Rasheed, owner of SR Design Works and Ar. Khadija Jamal Shaban, Chairperson of BAE.

The Gold winner won a cash award of PKR 100,000 and will be going to a fully sponsored trip by Nippon Paint to Singapore in order to attend the 'Regional Learning Programme' and compete with AYDA Gold winners from 15 other countries.

The Silver winner and honorary mention award winner received a cash award of PKR 50,000 and PKR 30,000 respectively. PR

Khaadi wins ‘Retail Brand of the Year’ award at the HUM Style Awards 2018

Karachi: Khaadi, Pakistan’s premier fashion retail brand, won the prestigious “Retail Brand of the year Award” at this year’s HUM STYLE AWARDS 2018, held at an evening of glamour and style at Karachi’s Expo Centre. 

Khaadi, was selected on the basis of its contribution towards establishing a strong foothold in terms of retail expansion and experience. Khaadi was recognized last year for 'Outstanding Achievement in Brand Development' category at the same awards last year. 

Khaadi’s Chief Marketing Officer Muhammad Usman, received the award on behalf of the company and dedicated the award to “… Pakistan and our customers. None of this would be possible without them.” He added. “ Khaadi’s Dream Team is fantastic whose passion and commitment have taken it from a 400 square foot corner store in Zamzama to the 400,000 squarefeet in 72 stores across Pakistan, UK and the GCC. Karachi: Khaadi, the country’s leading fashion retail brand announced the opening of its first store in Scotland becoming the first Pakistani brand to open a retail outlet in the country. 

The Glasgow store is located at the Silverburn Shopping Centre, one of the largest shopping centres in the UK, and is the brand’s eighteenth international store and eighth in the UK. It will showcase products from Khaadi’s Ready to Wear, accessories and Khaadi Khaas collection.

“I am extremely proud of this achievement,” said Shamoon Sultan, CEO Khaadi, “Khaadi is a pioneer of fashion retail in Pakistan. I believe it is our responsibility to highlight our country’s rich culture and heritage, and to represent and promote it locally and globally, while providing customers Khaadi’s unique retail experience.”

The 2772 square foot store uses simple materials like raw finished surfaces comprising of natural wood and stone to highlight the presence of natural elements. The mural wall is a composition of back painted glass and has been designed by the artist, Sohail Abdullah.

Khaadi, Pakistan’s premier lifestyle brand has sponsored the National Pavilion of Pakistan, under the title, ‘The Fold’ at the Venice Biennale 2018, becoming the first brand to represent the country at the globally recognised premiere event for design and architecture.

With a history of over 120 years, La Biennale di Venezia is known to be an Oscar equivalent in the area of design. Its 16th International Architecture Exhibition with the theme of ‘Freespace’ has commenced on May 26 and will continue till November 25. In what will be the country’s first ever national pavilion to have debuted at this platform, Khaadi will proudly showcase Pakistani culture alongside other world renowned design houses, artists, and architects. 

Khaadi takes pride in its Pakistani roots that influence its design aesthetic,” shared Shamoon Sultan, CEO Khaadi, “Khaadi is one of the pioneers of fashion retail and we believe that it is our responsibility to highlight Pakistan’s rich culture and to represent and promote our architects, designers, and intellectuals locally and globally.”

Curator of the National Pavilion of Pakistan, Sami Chohan said, 
“Being featured at a National Pavilion is an honour for any architect or designer and this opportunity will help us promote a softer, more artistic side of Pakistan at a global level.”

The pavilion design takes its inspiration from the physical and social dimensions of the open spaces embedded within the densely-populated settlements that characterise the urban fabric of Karachi, Pakistan’s largest and most populated city. It is staged by Antidote Art & Design and Coalesce Design Studio, and is curated by Sami Chohan and a design team comprising of Bilal Kapadia, Durreshahwar Alvi, Mustafa Mehdi, Salman Jawed, and Zeba Asad.

Launches limited edition luxury collection in City of Saints 

Multan: Khaadi, Pakistan’s premier fast fashion and lifestyle brand unveiled its limited edition, unstitched luxury lawn at the opening of its complete destination flagship store in Multan 

This state-of-the-art store is Khaadi’s sixth flagship store in Pakistan. Khaadi’s forte as a design house is reflected in the both the store design and aesthetic. The company believes in merging art with large spaces and includes an artist’s feature wall by Sohail Abdulla. 

The store is located in Multan’s trendy shopping district Gulgasht Colony and will carry unstitched, ready-to-wear, Kids and Home. Covering a floor area of 20,000 square feet it includes both an escalator and an elevator for accessibility and customer convenience.

“We chose Multan to launch this collection as it is our newest store. The store and the collection are reflective of our commitment to creating new traditions defined by our signature retail experience.” said CEO Shamoon Sultan. “We welcome Multan to our Flagship store and hope it becomes an icon in Multan’s retail space.” 

The store currently employs twenty-five full time sales staff who are enrolled in Khaadi’s sales and development training programme.
